It’s Summer! My favorite time of the year, by far. Salty air, eight hour surf sessions, travel, long warm nights, endless beach days, blue ass water, adventures! Aaaand.. açai bowls. Not the watered down, tasteless mess that they try to sell you everywhere for 17$ tho. Nope, the açai we make here is top tier, god tier, honestly.

The top rules for making good acai are: 

  • Use the frozen açaí packets, not the powder.
  • Use fresh bananas instead of liquid. 
  • Use ripe, spotty bananas. Better texture and way sweeter! 
  • Use a good balance of frozen and fresh fruit. The texture is supposed to be like soft serve! 

Ingredients:  

  • 1 fresh banana 
  • 1 frozen banana 
  • 1-2 packets frozen açaí
  • 1 medjool date 
  • 2/3 cup frozen mango 
  • 1/4 cup frozen pineapple 
  • 2/3 cup frozen blueberries 
  • A tbsp of plant based yoghurt
  • (if your blender can’t handle it, use more fresh instead of frozen fruit or add a splash of plant milk or more plant based yoghurt)  

You can play around with the ingredients and quantities based on what you have and like; as long as you stick to the rules I mentioned, you’ll be good! You can use more berries and less tropical fruit, throw in an apple, whatever floats ya boat.

 

Toppings: 

Use whatever you have and like, these are some of my faves: 

  • Shredded coconut 
  • Coconut flakes 
  • Granola, (Try this recipe for easy homemade granola! :))
  • Banana
  • Mango 
  • Passion Fruit 
  • Any kind of fruit 
  • Coconut Yoghurt
  • AAAnd peanut butter! I really recommend adding any kind of nut/seed butter! Takes it to the next level I promise! 

Alright and that’s it! So simple but so delicious. 

The ingredients really aren’t that cheap tho so this is more of an occasional treat for me as well. I’ll upload some other more affordable smoothie bowl recipes tho, they’re such a good, healthy summer staple:)
